There has been a big push to promote the release of the "Star Wars" movie saga on Blu-Ray on September 16th, especially in major league baseball. It continued last night at Citi Field in New York as the Mets held "Star Wars" night.
The promotion was similar to the "Star Wars Day" held in San Francisco recently. Fans were encouraged to wear their costumes and masks, and pre-game photo ops and contests were held.
Notable appearances were made by Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and Boba Fett, along with some Stormtroopers and an X-Wing fighter pilot. The characters got to pose with "Mr. Met" on the field during the 7th inning stretch.
As an added plus, the game raised proceeds for the nonprofit group Stand Up to Cancer.
Unfortunately the Mets were unable to channel "The Force" as they lost the game to the Washington Nationals 3-2.
