In UK soccer action Friday, Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland was shoved in the face by a visiting Leeds United fan who invaded the pitch during their Football League Championship match at Hillsborough.
It happened in the 77th minute just after Leeds had scored the equalizing goal to tie Sheffield at 1-1. Kirkland went down after the cheap shot, and the Leeds fan was able to run back into the stands and escape before security could track him down. However, as this video captures the man's face pretty clearly, it can hopefully be used as Exhibit A to punish this "fan" for his disgraceful actions once he is caught.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
UPDATE: Early reports have identified the fan as 20-year-old Aaron Cawley, who has already been banned from all football stadiums in England for his involvement in a riot when he was 16. Clearly that ban is not being enforced well enough, as this would appear to be the fourth time that Cawley has violated that ban.
H/T Dirty Tackle.
