The New Orleans Pelicans mascot, Pierre the Pelican, has been given a makeover to make him more family friendly (and less scary to kids). Pierre will make his first appearance with the new look during All-Star Weekend.
In order to explain Pierre's new look, the Pelicans created a backstory of how he suffered a broken beak and concussion while playing basketball with some of the other NBA team mascots.
After some extensive "surgery" and "rehabilitation", Pierre now sports a softer yellow beak instead of the bright red plastic beak he had before.
