Los Angeles Kings defenseman Milan Lucic accidentally punched an NHL linesman in the face during a scrum in the first period of Wednesday night's game against Colorado.
The scrum started with some pushing and shoving in front of the Avalanche net. Lucic quickly got angry and decided to throw a punch at Avalanche left winger Cody McLeod, but his fist hit linesman Jay Sharrers square in the face.
Somehow, Lucic did NOT get a penalty on the play. Does this mean it's legal to punch officials now?
Ironically, Lucic had just returned from a one-game suspension for sucker-punching an opponent last week. Although Lucic did not appear to intentionally hit Sharrers, we'll see if the league disciplines him for this.
