NFL defensive end Jared Allen announced his retirement Thursday, using Twitter to break the news with a video of him literally riding off "into the sunset".
Although there was no actual sunset, Allen seems content with his decision to end his 12-year NFL career. Allen played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears before being traded to the Carolina Panthers during the 2015 season. Allen reached the Super Bowl for the first time with the Panthers, and despite being on the losing team, it seemed like the time was right to walk away.
