Opossum appears on field during Dodgers-Phillies game (Video)

An opossum found its way onto the field at Dodger Stadium during Tuesday night's Los Angeles Dodgers game against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies.

Cameras caught a glimpse of the opossum on the edge of the field in the bottom of the ninth inning with one out and a runner on second as the Phillies held a 6-2 lead. The opossum walked the edge of the field for a few seconds before crawling into an opening underneath the padding.

Television broadcasters joked that the opossum must have caught a charter flight from Oakland, as the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum is known for its opossums. The Dodgers may have to add an exterminator to the payroll.

There was no interruption in the game as the opossum did not come anywhere near the infield, unlike animal interruptions of MLB games that we have seen in the past.

The Dodgers were unable to score in the bottom of the ninth as they lost to the Phillies 6-2, so this cannot be called a "rally opossum". The Dodgers still hold a 4-game lead in the National League West.
