This just in from NBCSports.com, and it doesn't look good for the Miami Dolphins:
The unbelievable irony is that this is the second time that Chad Pennington suffered a season-ending injury as starting quarterback and his backup QB suffered a season-ending injury in the same game. On September 25, 2005, as the starter for the New York Jets, Chad Pennington suffered a shoulder injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had to be relieved by Jay Fiedler, who suffered a season-injury to his shoulder after seven plays. Pennington had to come back in and was able to finish the game, almost pulling out a win, but it was found after the game that he had a torn rotator cuff, which he had spent the entire offseason rehabilitating, and would have to have season-ending surgery.
As I said in an earlier post, as much as we like Chad Pennington, it may be time for him to call it a career.
"Mike Berardino and Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel report that (Chad) Pennington and (Chad) Henne are expected to miss the rest of the season. Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Pennington has a dislocated shoulder, the fourth serious shoulder injury of his career.Somehow the Dolphins still managed to pull out a win against the Tennessee Titans, but who will be their quarterback for the rest of the season? Tyler Thigpen was the third string quarterback and is now the starter by default. Patrick Ramsey was mentioned as a possibility on ESPN Radio's "Mike and Mike in the Morning". The UFL season isn't over yet, otherwise maybe Daunte Culpepper or Jeff Garcia might be in the mix. Apparently there's no interest in JaMarcus Russell?
Henne left the stadium on crutches and was headed to undergo an MRI. His kneecap bent forward in ugly fashion on the play that took him out. While one source of the Sentinel’s expects Henne to miss the rest of the season, the other source wasn’t as sure."
