Retired track and field star and nine-time Olympic gold medal winner Carl Lewis held a press conference today to announce that he will run for a seat in the New Jersey State Senate. Lewis will be running as a Democrat in the 8th Legislative District against a Republican incumbent.
Since he is now officially in politics, it's pretty likely that at some point he will have to recite the "Star-Spangled Banner" in public. Let's just hope he's not allowed to sing it in public, as his rendition a few years back before an NBA game may have been one of the worst National Anthem attempts ever.
