As if getting blown out in their two games of the 2011 season wasn't bad enough for the Kansas City Chiefs, they just found out that their best player, Jamaal Charles, is out for the season with a torn ACL.
It happened in the first quarter of yesterday's game against the Detroit Lions. Charles ran to the sideline and stretched out for the sideline with his left leg to reach the first down. His left foot stepped directly on the plastic stripe in front of the first down marker. It's not clear from the video, but because Charles' leg was already stretched out when his foot hit the ground, the plastic stripe may have slipped just a little bit and caused Charles' knee to give.
To add insult to the injury, Jamaal Charles tumbled into the Detroit Lions mascot as he was out of bounds.
