The Minnesota Twins got a good laugh as first base coach Jerry Lee tried unsuccessfully to avoid being hit by a slow ground ball that was hit foul by Matt Tolbert at Target Field yesterday.
It happened in the bottom of the fifth inning. The foul ball traveled slowly as it came off Tolbert's bat. Lee jumped up as he saw the ball coming towards him, but he landed back on the ground before the ball reached him. The ball hit Lee in the left shin, and hilarity ensued in the Twins dugout as Lee stumbled sideways onto the ground.
Fortunately the ball was traveling slowly and low to the ground so that Lee was not at risk of serious injury, which makes it easier for the Twins players, and those of us watching at home, to laugh at this. Lee was able to get up without any help and was not hurt, except for maybe his pride, now that video of this play will be out there on the Internet forever for everyone to see.
