In today's Big 10 college football matchup, Illinois linebacker Jonathan Brown took a cheap shot on Northwestern offensive lineman Patrick Ward by giving Ward a knee to the groin.
It happened late in the second quarter of today's game. Watch the video as Jonathan Brown slowly strolls over to Ward, takes a quick look around to see if anyone is looking, and then quickly raises his knee up into Ward's crotch and walks away thinking he got away with it. Fortunately the referee did see this and gave Brown a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Hopefully Illinois coach Ron Zook will discipline Jonathan Brown further after he watches the film of this game. No question that this was a dirty play and there's no place in football for this type of behavior.
UPDATE: Illinois suspended Jonathan Brown for Saturday's game against Indiana.
