During Monday night's hockey game in Toronto between the Maple Leafs and LA Kings, NHL referee Chris Rooney decided he was finished with his chewing gum and wanted to get rid of it.
Rooney found the opportunity to get rid of his gum during a commercial break, where he simply sticks the gum to the outside of the glass near the penalty box.
To make matters worse, Rooney did this right in front of David Keon Jr., a member of the NHL Public Relations department, who immediately removed the gum from the glass.
Maybe there should be a ban on gum chewing by referees - in addition to the problem of disposing of the gum, couldn't it be a potential choking hazard as well?
