It's been a rough start to the 2012 Australian Open tennis tournament for the ball boys and girls.
On Monday, a ball boy was nearly knocked out by an errant shot by Russia's Alexander Kudryavtsev. Then, on Tuesday, a ball girl was asked to something that wasn't normally part of her job description: remove a cricket from the tennis court.
It happened during the first game of a men's singles match between Cedrik-Marcel Stebe and Lleyton Hewitt. Stebe asked for the cricket to be removed. I guess he didn't want to upset anyone by stepping on it.
The ball girl picked up the cricket after a couple of unsuccessful attempts and was clearly freaked out as she was carrying it off the court, providing for a few good laughs for fans in the stands and viewers at home. But hey, give her credit for stepping up and doing the job.
