Chicago Blackhawks forward Dan Carcillo could be looking at a suspension from the NHL after shoving Edmonton Oilers defenseman Tom Gilbert into the boards behind the Oilers net during the second period of last night's game in Chicago.
The players were chasing a puck that had been dumped into the Oilers end of the ice when Carcillo shoved Gilbert hard from behind, sending him flying off his feet and into the boards.
Gilbert left the game and did not return. Carcillo received a 5-minute major for boarding and was also ejected from the game with a 10-game misconduct.
Ironically, Carcillo also was hut on the play. As Gilbert bounced off the boards after being shoved, he came down hard on Carcillo's leg.
UPDATE: Carcillo tore his ACL on the play, and he will be having surgery which ends his 2011-12 season.
