In Monday night NHL action from Minnesota, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Aaron Rome punched Minnesota Wild forward Stephane Veilleux in the face. However, it was Rome's teammate, defenseman Kevin Bieksa, who actually absorbed the worst of the impact after Rome's punch knocked Veilleux's helmet into Bieska's face.
It happened in the second period of the game. No penalties were called on the play, and Bieska was OK after shaking out the cobwebs.
It could have been a lot worse. At least his teammate didn't hit him in the mouth with his stick.
