Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Jerry Hairston tried to blow a bunted ball foul during a spring training game earlier this week against the Kansas City Royals.
It happened in the top of the fifth inning when Royals infielder Irving Falu placed a perfect bunt down the third base line. Hairston and catcher Matt Trainor both waited for the ball to roll foul. When it became apparent that the ball was going to stay in fair territory, Hairston got down on the ground and tried to blow the ball into foul territory. Hairston was unsuccessful, and even if he was, it would have been illegal to do so according to baseball rules.
