Philadelphia Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo had to leave Sunday's NHL game against their division rival Pittsburgh Penguins after teammate Scott Hartnell accidentally slashed him in the mouth with his stick.
In the second period, Rinaldo went after Penguins defenseman Kris Letang for taking down teammate Jaromir Jagr. Hartnell came over to help Rinaldo, but suddenly lost his balance. As Hartnell fell to the ice, his stick came flying up and hit Rinaldo square in the mouth. Rinaldo headed straight to the locker room and ended up needing five stitches.
Hartnell ended up scoring two goals in the game, including the game winning goal with 0.9 seconds left in overtime to give the Flyers a 3-2 win. Hopefully Hartnell dedicated one of those goal to Rinaldo, and maybe that will ease the pain somewhat.
