After Rafael Nadal won his match to advance to the quarterfinals at the Indian Wells tennis tournament, he autographed a tennis ball and threw it into the crowd. However, one fan in the front row was a little more eager than the others to grab the ball with Nadal's autograph. When the ball bounced back towards the court, the fan instinctively ran after it, forgetting about the advertisement board on the court that was right in front of him.
Not only did the fan suffer an embarrassing fall onto the court after tripping over the board, but he failed to get Nadal's autographed ball as another fan was able to grab it before the ball hit the court.
However, the fan did get a nice consolation prize: a hug from Rafael Nadal himself, who came over to check on the fan and make sure he was OK. Classy move by Nadal.
A similar incident occured last year at the French Open when a female fan trying to get a better view of Roger Federer fell onto the court as he was taking phographs after one of his matches.
