An Army Sergeant home from a tour of duty in Afghanistan had some help with the Seattle Mariners in planning a surprise reunion with his family at Friday night's game.
13-year-old Kyle Smerer, who is a huge Mariners fan, was invited by the team to run out onto the field before the game and "steal second base". What Kyle didn't know was that the umpire who would run out to stop him was actually his dad, U.S. Army First Sergeant Steven Smerer, who Kyle and his family had not seen in four months. Steven gave Kyle a big hug, and they ran back to the outfield together where Steven met his wife Trina and his other two children for a really special welcome home.
