A small bird planted itself on the grass about 15 feet in front of third base at Wrigley Field during the seventh inning of Monday's Chicago Cubs game against the visiting San Diego Padres.
The bird did not move at all as Padres batter Everth Cabrera hit a grounder to Cubs third baseman Ian Stewart. Stewart managed to throw the ball to home plate for a fielder's choice and prevent a run from scoring while avoiding disturbing the bird.
The Cubs scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and did not allow another Padres run in the game to win 11-7, ending a 12-game losing streak. Some Cubs fans are already trying to call this bird the "Rally Bird", but it may be too soon for that.
