Chicago Cubs pitcher Casey Coleman had to leave Wednesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox after getting hit in the hand with a broken bat.
It happened in the bottom of the seventh inning as the bat of White Sox batter Eduardo Escobar shattered and the barrel of the bat hit Coleman in the knuckles.
Escobar's contact with the ball resulted in a grounder to second base which ended the inning. Coleman was removed from the game and checked out by medical staff, but fortunately X-rays turned up negative.
