New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira lost his bat while swinging at a pitch during Sunday's game in the Bronx against the Los Angeles Angeles, and the fan who ended up with the bat was none other than filmmaker Spike Lee.
It happened in the bottom of the first as Texiera swung and missed at a 1-1 pitch and his bat went flying into the stands behind the Yankee dugout. Lee and an older boy who appeared to be his son were in the front row and were able to move to their right to get out of the way. In fact, Lee's son appeared to be in position to take the brunt of the impact to protect his dad.
Lee enjoyed the moment and demonstrated off his left-handed swing to the crowd, and in the end he did give the bat to his son. However, one of the Yankee announcers couldn't resist making the comment with regards to Spike: "I'm sure some people wished that it would have hit him."
