Home plate umpire Jeff Nelson called time in the bottom of the eighth inning during Sunday's Oakland A's game against the Seattle Mariners to send a ballboy out to center field to pick up a cup. Seriously.
The ballboy had to run all the way from right field to get the cup. They could have saved some time by having Mariners center fielder Michael Saunders to go get it, but really? The ump couldn't wait until the inning was over?
The A's were holding "1950s Turn Back The Clock Day" as they were the throwback uniforms of the Pacific Coast League's Oakland Oaks, while the Mariners wore Seattle Rainiers uniforms.
