A friendly soccer match in Germany between Portgual's Benfica FC and Germany's Fortuna Düsseldorf was called in the 39th minute after Benfica captain Luisão knocked one of the referees out cold.
Luisão was protesting a decision by referee Christian Fischer to eject his Benfica teammate Javi Garcia. Based on the video evidence (in which the best angle of the incident comes at the 2:15 mark), Luisão rushes Fischer and appears to shove him and give him a headbutt, knocking Fischer to the ground. So much for a "friendly" match.
According to Goal.com, Fortuna Düsseldorf intends to report Benfica to UEFA over the incident, while Luisão denies he did anything and claims to have a "clear conscience". Stay tuned.
