During Saturday night's ESPN college football television broadcast of the Michigan-Alabama game on ABC, the audio was cut for a few seconds as Brent Musburger was talking at the 2:30 left in the third quarter. As the audio came back, viewers saw Kirk Herbstreit laughing and Musburger admitting to a Freudian slip.
Naturally, everyone wondered what Musburger said. Fortunately for us, Deadspin got to work and tracked down the unedited video.
(DISCLAIMER: PG-13 language - not appropriate for the kids.)
It seems that what Musburger was trying to say was that Herbstreit may have upset a few people with his decision not to pick an SEC team to play in the national championship game. However, Musburger got his words crossed up and let one slip that starts with 'p' and rhymes with 'hiss'. Whoops.
Fortunately, the censors were on the ball and earned their paycheck this week by bailing out Musburger, who didn't need to apologize to viewers like Lee Corso and Ron Jaworski did last year. Looks like Musburger owes somebody lunch.
