Miami Heat star LeBron James was called for a technical foul in a very strange play during the second quarter of Tuesday night's NBA preseason game against the Charlotte Bobcats.
LeBron appeared to be fouled by Bobcats guard Gerald Henderson in the lane, and the officials called the foul on Henderson, but also called a technical foul on LeBron. The reason for the technical foul call was not obvious, and even the television announcers could not figure out why the call was made.
To top it off, Heat coach Erik Spolestra was also given a technical foul as he tried to argue with the officials over the call.
Henderson made both technical foul shots, then LeBron made both of his free throws. In the end, it was a moot point as the Heat won the game 98-92. However, the reasoning behind LeBron may forever be shrouded in mystery. It's a good thing this is only the preseason.
