This past weekend, a massive brawl broke out in the final seconds of a Minnesota high school boys soccer match between Totino-Grace and Prairie Seeds Academy.
Prairie Seeds won the match 2-1, but the win was overshadowed by the fight, which escalated quickly and involved multiple players. The Totino-Grace coach was punched by the Prairie Seeds goalie as he tried to separate some of the players. At least one Totino-Grace player required stitches after getting punched during the fight.
The winner of the matchup was supposed to advance to the Minnesota state tournament. However, the status of Prairie Seeds is now in question as the Minnesota State High School League launches an investigation into the incident.
Police in Maple Grove, where the match took place, were called in to respond and are now conducting their own investigation, but it is too early to tell whether criminal charges will be filed.
