Minor league hockey team cuts off beer sales before '4th period', which naturally makes no sense (Photo)

The Houston Aeros, the AHL minor league affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild, try to promote responsible drinking for adults by not allowing alcohol sales after the start of the 4th period.

That's all well and good, except for one minor oversight: As any sports fan knows (or should know), pro hockey only has three periods.

The Aeros play their home games in the Toyota Center, which they share with the NBA's Houston Rockets. The message displayed is clearly more appropriate for an NBA basketball game, but according to Ritch Duncan on TruTV.com's Dumb As a Blog, the vendors selling the beer aren't smart enough to know the difference. The Aeros may want to make a note of this and adjust their policies accordingly.

That gives us at Holdout Sports a chance to provide this public service announcement to our readers: Please don't drink and drive.
