A funny moment occurred during the FOX telecast of Game 1 of the 2012 World Series when baseball analyst Tim McCarver confused a reference to Barry Bonds with a reference to Barry Manilow.
It happened in the fourth inning after San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito hit a single to drive in a run, and the crowd at AT&T Park began chanting "Barry! Barry!"
As McCarver pointed it out to viewers, Joe Buck said "They used to say it for someone else around here." Buck figured McCarver would pick up on the obvious reference to Barry Bonds, the all-time home run leader who played for the Giants.
Instead, McCarver replied "When Barry Manilow was playing in concert."
After being corrected by Buck, McCarver couldn't help but laugh.
