In soccer action from Italy, Sampdoria coach Ciro Ferrara was the unfortunate victim of a bad bounce as he was hit directly in the face with a ball during Sunday's Serie A match against Palermo.
In the 39th minute, Sampdoria defender Andrea Costa and Palermo midfielder Edgar Osvaldo Barreto chased the ball near the sideline where Ferrara was standing. As Costa tried to kick it away, Barreto stuck his foot out and kicked it out of bounds, nailing Ferrara in the face and knocking his glasses off. Ferrara was clearly stung but did not appear seriously hurt.
Unfortunately, Ferrara was not able to rally his team to victory as Palermo defeated Sampdoria 2-0, adding insult to injury.
