Toronto Raptors forward Amir Johnson was ejected for trying to take the ball from referee David Jones during the third quarter of Monday night's NBA game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
It happened after Blazers center J.J. Hickson took the first of his two free throws. Johnson apparently has a habit of handing the ball to the referee in this situation, but when Jones grabbed the ball first, Hickson got into a tug of war with Jones and lost his head.
To make matters worse, Johnson punctuated his ejection by throwing his mouthpiece at Jones, hitting him in the back, before being escorted from the floor. That will likely earn him a fine and possible suspension.
Johnson finished his day with only 4 points and 4 rebounds, and the Raptors were blown out by the Blazers 92-74.
