A scary moment occurred in a Monday night soccer match from the UK when a Gillingham fan ran onto the pitch and knocked over Wycombe goalie Jordan Archer as he was taking a goal kick.
It happend during injury time as Archer was leaning over positioning the ball on the ground when the man (who may possibly be a teenager) leaped onto his back and knocked him to the ground.
Archer was not injured. Security was able to apprehend the man immediately, and Wycombe was able to leave with a 1-0 victory.
Unfortunately, this trend of pitch invaders attacking players is occurring much too often, so stronger punishments and deterrents are needed to prevent this going forward.
