Columbus Blue Jackets center Vinny Prospal was given a ten minute misconduct penalty in the third period of Saturday night's game against the Detroit Red Wings, possibly for taunting them by pointing at the scoreboard.
It happened with 5:54 left and the Blue Jackets leading 3-0. Prospal was jawing with Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader, and Prospal pointed at the scoreboard as referees separated them.
So let's get this straight: A player who knocks out an opponent in a fight only gets five minutes in the penalty box, but a player who points at the scoreboard gets ten minutes? Does that make sense to anyone?
