NBA referee David Guthrie suffered an embarrassing moment when he tripped over Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen and fell backwards onto the court during Game 2 of the Western Conference first round playoff series between the Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers.
Guthrie was walking backwards to get into position but clearly didn't see Allen on the ground holding his ankle. To add insult to injury, Guthrie tried to use Allen's head to try to keep his balance when he began to fall.
Kudos to Allen for helping Guthrie get up, and fortunately Guthrie was OK, although he probably felt a bit silly. Hopefully Guthrie learned a valuable lesson about staying alert out there on the court. In case he hasn't, he now has this wonderful GIF to remind him:
