You could excuse elementary schoolers for shooting two consecutive airballs from the free throw line. An NBA player, however, has no excuse.
On that note, to say that Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond needs to work on his free throws would be the understatement of the year. Unless Drummond is trying to set the NBA record for worst FT shooting percentage for a season, in which case he's certainly getting close, with his 35.2% is currently third-worst all time.
We can not confirm whether Drummond is the first NBA player ever to airball two consecutive free throws. It's usually interesting to watch something on the basketball court that's never been done before, but this was just sad.
H/T BDL.
