Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion took an embarrassing tumble during Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners when he tripped over the pitcher's mound while chasing an infield popup.
It happened in the top of the eighth inning after Mariners batter Kendrys Morales hit the popup, and Encarnacion appeared to have a bead on it, but that pesky mound came out of nowhere. As a result, no one caught the ball and Morales ended up at second and was credited with a double.
Fortunately, the misplay by the Blue Jays infield misplay did not lead to any runs, and they had a 10-2 lead at the time, so no harm, no foul.
