Chicago White Sox pitcher Hector Santiago is not used to hitting, as he plays for an American League team. That would probably explain why Santiago was nowhere to be found when his at-bat came up with two outs in the top of the sixth inning during Tuesday night's game at Citi Field.
The game was briefly delayed as Santiago was in the locker room and had to be reminded by teammates that it was his turn to bat. Santiago could be seen scrambling for a helmet and a bat, and was understandably jeered by Mets fans as he came up to face pitcher Matt Harvey. Santiago struck out looking to end the inning.
Santiago did pitch seven shutout innings against the Mets, but didn't get the win as the White Sox were shut out and lost the game 1-0 in 10 innings.
