Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Ronald Belisario had a rough time in the field during the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the New York Yankees when he committed two errors on one play, leading to a Yankees rally which allowed them to take control of the game.
Belisario came into the game in the bottom of the seventh with runners on first and second and one out. Yankees batter Vernon Wells hit a popup in front of the mound, but Belisario misjudged it and let it bounce in front of him. Then, Belisario tried to pick up the ball for the throw to first, but somehow fumbled the ball backwards through his legs, which counted as the first error. Yankees runner Robinson Cano got a late jump while running to second base, so Belisario threw to second base, but his wild throw ended up in center field, which allowed Cano to advance to third and Jason Nix to score on the play. Belisario was taken out of the game after hitting the next Yankees batter, so his appearance was complete after only four pitches. Talk about a bad day at the office.
To add insult to injury, Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki singled to drive home Cano and Wells and complete the three-run rally in the seventh for the Yankees, who won the game 6-4.
