A loose dog and his owner narrowly avoided being hit by a pack of cyclists and causing a huge accident during Sunday's Stage 2 of the 2013 Tour de France.
About 4 kilometers from the finish line, a small white dog broke loose from his owner and crossed the roadway while it was free of bicycle traffic. The owner called to the dog, who came back halfway but then stopped right in the middle of the roadway. The owner then made a mad dash to grab the dog and get him off the road, but was forced to abandoned his mission after he saw a huge pack of cyclists bearing down on both of them. Fortunately the dog was smart enough to get out of the way on his own. No one was hurt and a massive pileup was avoided.
This near miss comes a day after another strange incident as a team bus got stuck at the finish line. The 100th Tour de France is proving to be an interesting one so far, to say the least. Can't wait to see what happens next.
H/T FTW.
