Corey Dickerson loses sight of popup, ball lands nearly 100 feet away (Video)

It happens on rare occasions that major league outfielders lose track of balls in the air, whether due to the sun, the lights, or other distractions. However, the popup that Colorado Rockies center fielder Corey Dickerson lost track of Wednesday night landed so far away from him that you have to wonder what he was looking at.

It happened in the top of the seventh inning as Los Angeles Dodgers batter Hanley Ramirez hit a popup to shallow center field. Dickerson jogged back towards the wall like he was going to make an easy play on a deep fly ball, but then suddenly put his hands out indicating he couldn't see the ball. At that point, you would have expected the ball to land maybe a few feet away from him, but the ball landed in medium center field nearly 100 feet away. By the time Dickerson got some help from one of his teammates, Ramirez had himself an easy double.

Dickerson is a top Rockies prospect who was just promoted to the majors two weeks back, so obviously he is a rookie who has room for improvement, but we would love to know how he misplayed that ball so badly.
