In Real Madrid's preseason opener at Bournemouth, a free kick by Cristiano Ronaldo sailed over the crossbar and hit an 11-year-old in the arm, breaking the boy's wrist in two places.
Although the accident occurred just six minutes into the game, young Charlie Silverwood stayed to watch the remaining 84 minutes before heading to the hospital for X-rays and having an operation to repair the fracture.
Ronaldo scored two goals in the 6-0 Real Madrid victory. To apologize for Charlie's injury, Real Madrid sent Silverwood a jersey signed by Ronaldo and the entire team.
