New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera made his final appearance in an MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday night, and it was a memorable one.
Rivera was called to appear in the bottom of the eighth inning, and he came into the game all alone as Citi Field played his trademark song, Metallica's "Enter Sandman". Not only did the Citi Field crowd give Rivera a standing ovation, but all players and coaches on both teams applauded as Rivera stood alone on the mound before throwing his warmup pitches. Rivera was nearly brought to tears in an incredibly special moment that you don't see too often in sports.
Rivera pitched a perfect eighth inning and was given the All-Star Game MVP award as the American League beat the National League 3-0.
