New York Mets third baseman Wilmer Flores threw his bat at a pitch, and made enough contact with it to foul it off, during Friday night's game in Arizona.
It happened in the eighth inning with one out and runners on second and third. Flores threw his bat at the 1-2 pitch from D-backs reliever Heath Bell, and the desparation move by Flores kept him alive long enough to drive in the tying run with a groundout to second. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
Unfortunately, the D-backs won the game with a walk-off HR in the ninth inning for a 5-4 victory.
