Two Marlins, one base: Runners slide into third at same time (Video)

The Miami Marlins were involved in a possibly unprecedented baserunning gaffe as two runners slid into the same base at the same time during Wednesday night's game in Washington.

It happened in the top of the sixth inning with Marlins runners Logan Morrison on third and Donovan Solano on first. Marlins batter Adeiny Hechavarria hit a grounder to Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, whose throw to home trapped Morrison in a rundown. Morrison ran back to third while Solano, who ran to second on the grounder, decided to advance an extra base while the Nationals infielders were distracted with the Morrison rundown.

As a result, fans witnessed the rarely seen (and possibly never before seen) play: two Marlins, one base. Morrison slid headfirst into third base while Solano slid feet-first into third. Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond was obviously confused, so he covered himself by tagging both runners. In the end, Morrison was called out while Solano was called safe.

With plays like this, it's no surprise that the Marlins are the worst team in the National League. Needless to say, they lost the game 4-3.
