If there were any questions that Vanderbilt Commodores wide receiver Jordan Matthews was giving everything he had during Thursday night's college football season opener against Mississippi, those questions were answered when Matthews threw up on the field during the fourth quarter. And boy, did he ever.
And on that note, ladies and gentlemen, college football is back!
After blowing those huge chunks, Matthews was able to come back into the game to make a key 42-yard reception on 4th and 18, extending a touchdown drive by Vandy. Matthews finished the game with 178 yards and a touchdown.
Unfortunately, the effort by Matthews wasn't enough as Ole Miss scored on a 75-yard touchdown run with 1:07 left in the game to beat Vandy 39-35.
