In Thursday night's NFL season opener, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning tied an NFL record with 7 TD passes in a 49-27 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. However, the Columbus Dispatch seemed to get its wire reports crossed when writing the story summarizing the game, as Friday's headline gave credit for the TD passes to retired Denver Broncos legend John Elway.
Interestingly enough, the first paragraph of the story correctly credits Manning for the TD passes. However, the second paragraph goes back to referencing Elway again: "Elway became the sixth (NFL) player to throw for (7 TDs), and the first since Joe Kapp on Sept. 28, 1969."
Come on, Columbus Dispatch, get your story straight.
