On Wednesday night, the Colorado Rockies honored Todd Helton, who was playing his final game at Coors Field before retiring at the end of the season. Helton has played for the Rockies for his entire 17-year MLB career.
The Rockies honored Helton before the game by giving him the opportunity to catch the ceremonial first pitch, which was thrown by his daughter Tierney. As a retirement gift, the Rockies presented Helton with a live horse with a custom designed saddle, to go along with the horse he bought his daughter earlier this year, to ride on the family's ranch.
The Rockies also mowed the number 17 in the outfield grass as a tribute to Helton in his final home game.
Also of note, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and his son were in the dugout to watch the ceremony.
