Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos accidentally hit the bat of Philadelphia Phillies batter Chase Utley with a throw to first base during Monday night's game at Citizens Bank Park.
It happened in the bottom of the fourth with Phillies runner Jimmy Rollins on first base. After Utley swung and missed on a 1-1 pitch, Ramos tried to make a quick throw to nail Rollins at first, but Utley's bat was still in the air from his backswing. Ramos managed to hit Utley's back and bounced backwards, allowing Rollins to advance to second base easily. Needless to say, you don't see that too often in baseball.
Ramos was charged with a throwing error, and Rollins came around to score later in the inning. The Phillies won the game 3-2.
