Jim Leyland made it official in a press conference Monday that he was stepping down as Detroit Tigers manager, saying that it was a decision he made back in September when he felt that "it's time". However, when having trouble hearing a question from the media, Leyland used the opportunity to lighten the mood a fart joke.
Why a fart joke, you ask? Because you can never go wrong with a fart joke. Like George Carlin used to say, farts are funny, plain and simple.
Leyland steps down after eight seasons as Tigers manager, which included three division titles and two American League titles. Leyland did not use the word "retirement", as he will continue to work in the Tigers organization. Down the road, maybe Leyland will decide to manage again one day.
For now, congratulations to Leyland on a good run with the Tigers and best of luck in the future.
