It was bad enough that Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick gave up a shorthanded goal in the third period of Monday night's NHL game against the New York Rangers, but it was how Quick gave it up that was really stunning to watch.
During the Kings power play, Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonough came into possession of the puck after a face-off in the Rangers end and sent it down the ice. Quick lost his stick as he came about 10 feet out of the net to stop the puck, then stumbled. The puck bounced off the pad on Quick's right leg and took an unlucky bounce into his own net.
The Rangers won the game 3-1, and Quick will surely have nightmares about that play for days to come.
